Too many people spend money they haven’t earned, to buy things they don’t want, to impress people they don’t like. -Will Rogers

The consumption society has made us feel that happiness lies in having things, and has failed to teach us the happiness of not having things. -Elise Boulding

You know you have reached perfection of design not when you have nothing more to add, but when you have nothing more to take away. -Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful. -William Morris

One of the advantages of being born in an affluent society is that if one has any intelligence at all, one will realize that having more and more won’t solve the problem, and happiness does not lie in possessions, or even relationships: The answer lies within ourselves. If we can’t find peace and happiness there, it’s not going to come from the outside. -Tenzin Palmo

Tiny House Living Quotes

Things To Keep In Mind

About Tiny Houses?

  • Illness or Injury. Living in a tiny housewhile sick or injured can be uncomfortable or, depending on the situation, impossible. This is why tiny houses get such a bad reputation for retirees and the aging population. A loft can be an insurmountable problem if you are suffering from a back injury.
  • Building codes. Building codes and local zoning are so specific to their area that the only way to know if you can build tiny is to talk to your local municipal government. Even a tiny home on wheels may not fit neatly around the code to allow you to park it just anywhere. This can be a big obstacle keeping people from taking this step.
  • Claustrophobia. If you really have a problem with confined spaces may not be the right fit for you. There is a bright side to this. Most of the time you can go outside or head for a coffee shop or local bar to feel social again.
  • Public opinion. You are likely to hear negative comments from well-meaning friends and family.
  • Hard work. Living in a tiny house is always hard work. It starts the moment you begin to build and never actually ends. Ther are alternatives besides building yourself, such as hiring a tiny house construction company to build your house. Be prepared for what you’re getting into.
