Our Vision

TinyHouses of LB seeks to foster and nurture tiny house enthusiasts and those who are searching for an affordable means of housing. THLB is a place where people can develop a community that is built upon the ideas of environmental consensus, financial stability, self sufficiency, and life adventures. This community, though creativity and ingenuity, will be able to build their dream home by affordable means to achieve their “American Dream” of owing a place to call home.

Our Goals

  • To engage the local community to inform them on the issues pertaining to tiny house dwelling.

 

  •  To educate community leaders, elected officials, organizations focused on sustainability, environmental awareness and to any interested parties.

 

  • Advocate the different aspects of tiny house living: affordability, creativity, ingenuity, simplicity, environmental sustainability and following the living more with less motto.

Why Tiny Houses? 

The financial crisis of 2007-2008 is when the tiny house concept gained attraction as it offers housing that is more affordable and ecologically friendly.

People are turing to the tiny house idea for environmental concerns, environmental concerns, financial stability, and those seeking more time and freedom to do more with their life. 

 

The typical cost are ranging from $20,000 to upwarrds to $100,000 depending on what type of materials are being used and if the constuction is being undertaken by the occupant or a construction company. Tiny houses are somtimes used as accessory dwelling units to serve as additional on-property housing for aging relatives or returing children, home office, or as a guest house.

Living In A Tiny House

Tiny houses come in all shapes, sizes, and forms and thriving on the concepts of creativity and ingunity. The typical American home is around 2,600 square feet, while the typical tiny house is around 100-400 square feet. The amount of space leads to creativity in designing a home from recycled shipping containers to reclaimed wood or materials. 

 

Owning a tiny house means that you are part of the 68% of tiny house people who have no mortgage, compared to 29.3% of all U.S. homeowners and tiny house people are twice as likely to have a masters degree, while they are on par with the average college graduation rates.
